The
Tarot is an ancient tool (dating back to pre-1370) used to allow
the reader to divine the meaning of events, focuses and trends
in the inquirers life. There has been a lot of speculation and
many theories as to the origin of the Tarot, but no one knows
for sure. The early and most popular tarot consists of 78 cards
which include 56 Minor Arcana cards and 22 Major Arcana cards.
There are references of the Tarot being banned by religious authorities
in the Jewish and Catholic faiths. Both the Islamic and Jewish
faith banned graven images of the "prophets" or higher
order of spirituality (or spiritual themes) as blasphemy. The
Catholic church of course pre pondered that the only true prophet
of God, source of his wisdom and knowledge as well as divining
his will for man came from the Catholic (meaning one, unified
and true) Church under the tutelage of the Pope.
